Banner Elk, North Carolina is notorious for being a small, one stop light town, with big flavors. It’s hard to imagine so many delicious things being crammed into this tiny quaint area; but believe it!
You have to try…
Sorrento’s family recipe crab cakes with lobster cream sauce and sautéed veggies
Stonewalls deep fried, deviled eggs with thick cut bacon garnish
Dunn’s Deli hearty breakfast bowl with fluffy eggs, cheddar cheese, sausage and French toast
Chef’s Table field green salad with beets harvested locally from Beech Mountain, along with crispy, toasted pine nuts and gooey fried goat cheese
Banner Elk Winery blueberry ice wine that literally tastes like pie. It’s definitely for those with a bit of a sweet tooth, but still isn’t overwhelmingly indulgent. Completely unique!
Trosley Farms chocolate made by a local, master of confection is often paired with variations of wine from Banner Elk Winery. One taste and we were hooked; best chocolate ever, and you can buy bars online
Bayou Smokehouse mixes cajun cooking with fresh greens in their Salad Evangeline. Crawfish, shrimp, roumelade, smoked oyster crackers, cucumber, cheese…perfection.
Not that there aren’t a million more amazing things to eat; these were the ones we were able to try during our short stay. A visit to Banner Elk promises a flavorfully enriching experience.
