In Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, there is one breakfast stop worth halting your beach day for; Heavenly Biscuit.
We only stayed in the area for one night, but new we’d be eating there for breakfast after reading great TripAdvisor reviews. When we arrived at 8:30 am, it was very crowded. While a great sign, I wish we had a hotel to go back to and enjoy our food in a less busy environment. Go ahead and note that this place is cash only; no cards as of since we’ve been there.
The tiny, colorful building is pleasantly simplistic; wait in line, order, pay, eat. And the food was everything we hoped for.
The cinnamon roll is a buzzed about item; it’s soft, gooey, sweet, warm and topped with nuts. And since we aren’t pretending that cinnamon rolls are healthy, I was beyond ecstatic about the generous amount of frosting pouring down the back, forming a sugary puddle on my plate. After the cinnamon roll, I was stuffed, but wasn’t leaving without trying the salmon biscuit.
A huge chunk of tender salmon easily filled the void of bacon or sausage on the egg and cheese biscuit. While salmon is pretty easy to get right, Heavenly Biscuit has mastered something not so easy; a crisp on the outside, cloud-like on the inside biscuit. That’s a good thing, given the name. If the biscuit isn’t good, you might as well forget the whole breakfast sandwich.
Heavenly Biscuit was a fantastic stop and completely worth the crowd. If you want crappy food, I guess you could wait in a smaller line somewhere else. But on vacation, you want to try the best of the area, and this place is where it’s at.
